Food Inc.

Food Inc is a thought provoking film that tried to even handedly talk about the food producing industries. I honestly wasn't shocked about the issues they raised since I have watchced films like this before. They did bring awareness to how much corn is being used in most processed food and even our meats, but how do you keep up with the demand for so much food without resorting to the quickest and easiest ways? I don't blame the companies for that. My dad grew up on a farm so it was interesting to hear his point of view on the movie. He did pointed out that there wasn't absolute proof shown of specific things said and that a lot of corn being produced now, 40%,  is for ethenal (which I have to admit, I didn't think about before). It is vital to thinking about what we are putting into our bodies, reading and understand food labels. Instead of spending money on those shoes you've been dying to buy, would the extra cash be better fit to spend on whole foods at your local farmers market and giving those individuals our support?

I hope you guys found this movie as interesting as I did! Happy eating everyone :)

  1. That is precisely the problem. It seems people are only willing to assume themselves beyond responsibility of the issue so long as there are larger forces to criminalize.

  2. This film was an eye opener for me, I have never seen anything like it except for the Humane Society commercials on T.V. I don't blame the companies for finding quick and easy ways to meet increased demand, they are businesses after all. I do think it would be nice to see a large corporation reduce their profit margins and increase the quality level of the products they produce, especially when those products are going into our bodies.

  3. I totally agree how our country should most likely be spending their money on whole foods at farmer markets rather than going shopping. Also, I think its super cool how your father grew up on a farm and is able to give you his input on what he thinks about it what is going on the farms today.

  4. This film made me want to become a veggie. I think I am hopping on that train with you. ha :) I just have to work on looking at food labels and understanding what they are actually telling me what is in my food I am about to eat!

  5. The movie made me think a lot more about what I eat. I eat about 80% organic at home which I normally buy from Jimbo's. I agree with you when you said that we need to spend our money on good food rather than things we do not need. Organic food tastes so much better, especially fruits. Lets tell our friends and family to watch this movie and change the way they eat.
