Stress Reduction

For my next blog I decided to share my thoughts on yoga and how it helps reduce my stress. I personally prefer bikram yoga which is yoga in a 100 degree room, 40 percent humidity. Not only does it relieve stress and calm me down but I also like to think all the toxins in my body are sweating away. It is a 90 minute class based on bikram's 26 posture yoga routine. This yoga is all about flexibility and focus. Every day is a new day. Never focus on how you will do in the past or the future but think about the now. PHYSICALLY-While doing the yoga I feel pain but in a good way like when you normally work out. It is not easy and sometimes I want to give up, but ultimately I know it is worth it! Afterword I seem to have more energy and the next day I have the typical workout soreness. EMOTIONALLY-During the exercises sometime I can get emotional which is normal, I feel very focused and have a clear mind. SPIRITUALLY-In between poses during the second half of class we do something called savasana, which is basically just laying down and letting all of the hard work soak into the body. I often pray during this peaceful time. MENTALLY-I feel focused and have a clear mind. This technique reduces my stress and I hope to go more often.

I highly recommend you all to try it! Any of you are welcome to join me :)

  1. Heated yoga is intense, but so beneficial! I feel like stretching is one of the best things you can do for your muscles. It must take a lot of perseverance and determination to complete even one class, let alone to go on a regular basis! All of the benefits you talk about sound amazing! You know I was going to try a class out but my dog ate my yoga mat! Haha just kidding, I know that was lame.

  3. This sounds absolutely amazing. I want to try this! When do you go? I would definitely try one day if I am available when you are! I like that you also feel spiritual when doing yoga. I have never done it but it seems like it would be a great time to pray! :)

  4. Hi Ms Amanda, I have always wanted to try doing Yoga but I know their are different types. It was nice for you to explain the Bikram Yoga form. I have seen people doing Yoga and it does not look easy, nice how you touched on that. I applaud you for not giving up when it gets a little difficult, good for you. I think I will look into this form of yoga a little further thanks for the tips.

  5. I think one of cousins did this and I remember her telling me to try it and now I'm starting to think I should because so far I haven't heard anything bad about it and it definitely sounds intriguing to me. Definitely a must try. :)
